You found out earlier about the hazard symbols you see on chemical labels but the labels contain other information as well.

Amongst other things, the label will tell you:
- The formula mass (molecular weight)
- The amount in the pack
- The expiry date (for everything except a few chemicals with a safe shelf life you can ignore this)

If chemicals are decanted into other bottles, in smaller amounts say, for use in the classroom there is no legal requirement to label the new container with the pictogram. However, you are required to communicate the hazards (if any) to the user and the pictogram is the easiest way of doing this.
