ACTIVITY 15 – Loudspeaker Connected to a Signal Generator
This set up is used to find the pupils’ range of hearing – i.e. the lowest and highest frequencies that they can hear. It is also used to teach them about the relationship between pitch and frequency.
What You Need
• Signal Generator
• Loudspeaker
What To Do
• Set the signal generator to give a sine wave signal of around 250 Hz.
• Turn the output (amplitude) control down.
• Connect a loudspeaker to the signal generator.
• Turn the output up until you can clearly hear the sound.
• Feel free to investigate the range of your own hearing.
