ACTIVITY 14 – Measuring Voltage Output from a Power Supply

What You Need
• Standard Power Supply
• Multimeter
• SBC Bulb in Holder

What To Do
• Set the selector of the power supply to 1 V.
• Measure the actual voltage from the ac and dc sockets in turn.
• Repeat for a range of voltages.
• What do you notice?
• Set the selector dial to an indicated 12 V ac. Check this with a voltmeter.
• Adjust the output to give an actual 12 V output (between 11.9 and 12.1 is fine).
• With the voltmeter still in place, connect the bulb.
• What do you notice this time?
