ACTIVITY 7 – Transistor

What You Need
• Stabilised Power Supply
• Alpha Kit: potential divider board fi tted with a 4.7 kΩ potentiometer
• Transistor board with an LED indicator
• Multimeter set as voltmeter (0-20 V)
• Yellow links
• Leads, etc.

What To Do
• Build the circuit shown.
• The potentiometer al allows you to set Vout to any voltage between 0 V and the supply voltage. Use the control on the potentiometer to set Vout to 0 V.
• Gradually increase the voltage until the LED comes on.
• Positioning a voltmeter in the transistor circuit as shown can be a very useful way of fault-finding.
